Yamaha - 01 Rappy 660 Build Questions
I have posted this on many forums but have yet to get a useful answer.
My rings on my stock motor finally got tired and gave low compression. I tore down and found that my walls were a bit scuffed and piston skirt as well. The OEM rod has some scrapes where the wrist pin goes and its not sitting well with me so I am going to upgrade that.
I want to go with a Wiseco 11:1 686 build. Here is what I have sourced so far...
Wiseco 11:1 102mm piston/gasket set
HotRods OEM connecting rod
OEM crank (polished/balanced)
Full HMF performance exhaust
K&N filter (no box mods)
Here is my dilemma.... I can only get 91 octane fuel where I am. I am at ~250m elevation.
Will this setup suffice? or do I also ABSOLUTELY NEED a cam to go with it? I understand the cam will wake the motor up some more, but Im on a little bit of a budget and that extra $200 is a bit much for a university student haha.
If there is anything I overlooked, please let me know. Or if you have other suggestions, feel free to state them.
